Ksl News: One suspected dead after trailer fire in Cedar City on Sunday

Fire crews responded just after 12:30 p.m. Sunday to a trailer fire near 1027 N. Main in Cedar City and found the home fully engulfed in flames, with the blaze already spreading to a neighboring house.

Investigators now believe there may be one deceased victim associated with the fire. Cedar City police said no identifying information will be released until there is positive identification and next of kin have been notified.

The fire damaged more than one property, including several vehicles and neighboring homes, adding to the urgency of a response that drew crews into a tight residential stretch of the city on a Sunday afternoon. Two officers were taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation as a precaution and later released, while the state fire marshal opened an investigation into how the fire began.

The incident leaves Cedar City with one suspected fatality and a still-unanswered cause. Police said they were grateful for the cooperation and patience shown by community members during the response and investigation, but the key facts now rest with investigators trying to determine who died and what sparked the flames.
