Rosenqvist Welcomes Daughter Stella Ahead of His Eighth Indianapolis 500 Start

and his wife, , welcomed their first child, a daughter named , on May 4 at St. Vincent Carmel Hospital outside Indianapolis, a moment the driver said he will carry with him forever.

The couple announced Stella’s birth in a joint Instagram post, writing that on May 4th, 2026 their little Stella was born and our hearts doubled in size. Rosenqvist said he was present for the delivery and described the experience as unforgettable, saying it provoked emotions he did not know he had and that everything else now ‘‘pales in comparison.’’

Rosenqvist arrives at this year’s — his eighth start in the race — insisting the new role of father changes how he approaches the month. He told reporters the birth fills him with a sense of purpose and perspective that he genuinely believes will benefit him on the track, and that fatherhood has already given him a clearer view of what matters.

The number of near-misses at Indianapolis is part of what makes this moment notable. Rosenqvist finished fourth in the Indy 500 in both 2022 and 2025, crashed out while running in contention in 2023, and lost a strong 2024 run to mechanical failure. He also posted the fastest single lap of the entire Month of May last year at 234.176 mph, underscoring the speed and potential he brings to the field even as results have narrowly slipped away.

Those highs and lows date back to a career that spans multiple series. Rosenqvist won the , the Grand Prix de Pau, the Masters of Formula 3 and the 2015 FIA Formula 3 European Championship before racing in Formula E, where he amassed three wins. He made his IndyCar debut in 2019 and was named the series’ Rookie of the Year that season.

Rosenqvist drives for Meyer Shank Racing, a team co-owned by his teammate . Rosenqvist said he usually keeps his private life separate from racing, but that Stella’s arrival was too big to hide. Teamroom conversations have shifted, he said, noting that becoming a parent opens a different kind of dialogue with teammates and crew — there is ‘‘this club that you can only access once you have a child,’’ he said, and he’s felt nothing but support.

Castroneves, drawing on his own experience, warned Rosenqvist that the opening months of fatherhood demand so much attention that a driver’s personal existence can feel diminished; he added that after that period, the parental love that follows is the best feeling in the world. That exchange captures the tension Rosenqvist now balances: the inward shift parenthood brings against the outward focus required to finally break through at Indianapolis.

Rosenqvist has said the Indy 500 is one of Meyer Shank Racing’s strongest races on the calendar and that he feels he has the experience and knowledge in place. He also acknowledged he has 500s he has ‘‘probably completely put behind me for different reasons,’’ and that this particular race — coming weeks after Stella’s birth — will remain with him. If that altered perspective sharpens his decision-making, it could be the difference that turns past near-misses into a career-defining result.
