The Wisconsin Lottery’s midday Pick 4 drawing on Tuesday came in 1-9-6-1 and paid out $211,500, a total that landed far above the game’s usual return. The drawing was held at midday, one of Pick 4’s two daily draws, with the evening draw set for 9 p.m.
The payout is notable because a typical Pick 4 drawing produces about $11,000 in winnings. Tuesday’s result was the fifth time since the fiscal year began last July that a Pick 4 drawing exceeded the average payout by at least $100,000, a level reached only once in each of the two prior fiscal years.
Pick 4 remains a game built around small wagers and long odds. Players can bet 50 cents to win up to $2,500 or a dollar to win $5,000, and the odds of landing the top prize are 1 in 10,000. Lottery officials said players often choose number combinations based on birthdays and anniversaries, a habit that helps explain why certain sequences can draw repeated attention.
The latest result also comes less than a month after another striking Pick 4 drawing. On April 24, the numbers 1-2-3-4 produced $336,200 in winnings, another reminder that the game can swing sharply from its average payoff to a much larger haul when a popular combination hits.
For players, Tuesday’s 1-9-6-1 result was a rare high-dollar moment in a game that usually pays much less. For the lottery, it was another example of how a simple four-digit draw can quickly turn into one of the biggest payouts of the year.
