One person was killed Friday night in a single-vehicle crash in Lake Elsinore after deputies and paramedics tried to save the driver at the scene near Spring and Library streets.
The crash was reported around 9:30 p.m., and Riverside County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded at about 9:34 p.m., according to authorities. Deputies found the driver suffering from significant injuries and began life-saving measures with paramedics. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station Traffic Team has taken over the investigation. Authorities said they had not yet determined what caused the crash, and no arrests had been made.
The driver’s identity has been withheld pending notification of next of kin. Investigators are asking anyone with additional information to contact Deputy Petersen at 951-245-3000. Anyone who witnessed the collision was also urged to contact Riverside Sheriff’s Dispatch at 951-776-1099.
For Lake Elsinore, the case now turns on the details investigators can still gather from the roadway, the vehicle and any witnesses who saw what happened in the minutes before the crash.
